System Flexibility and Durability
Because the Thermal Dynamix LoCAF(c) system is designed to handle "rough" fuels, tramp materials such as nuts, bolts, nails, wire, small stones and other "junk" are simply passed through the firing chamber and out into the ash removal system. The feeder is designed to "chew" up materials like wood scrap, pallets, furniture and mill waste.
The Thermal Dynamix LoCAF(c) system is a complete, durable, flexible and sophisticated system. It requires no noisy, violent, horsepower-hungry, maintenance-demanding, shredders (not even for tires). It doesn't need the constant personal attention of a dedicated operator. And, it's not going to disturb the neighbors with unpleasant noises or smells.
The primary combustion chamber is an alloy lined drum backed up by a ceramic fiber insulating system. This enables an extremely durable firing chamber which is capable of withstanding the prolonged vibration and impact loads, imposed by the rotation of the drum, without the cracking and crumbling of traditional "hard" refractory such as fire brick. It's also a significantly lighter system than a fire brick lined chamber and much, much easier to maintain and repair.
In the case of scrap rubber tires, where relatively low firing rates require it, the system is designed to automatically section the tires by cutting prior to their being delivered to the feed screw. The cutting is done by saw blade, not by an expensive, space gobbling, fuel gulping, eardrum shattering, high maintenance chipper or shredder. This enables a reasonably uniform and consistent fuel flow to the combustion chamber.
Generally speaking, in larger capacity units, requiring higher firing rates, whole tires can be fed into the primary combustion chamber without cutting; The exception being truck or other oversize tires which do require sectioning or cutting.
The heat output of the system can be put to any use: to produce process steam or steam for use to drive a turbine generator set, to provide space heating or to heat water for commercial or industrial use. A LoCAF system has application in just about every industry; Paper, Pulp, Printing, Manufacturing, Minimg, Agriculture, Food Processing and Warehousing, just to mention a few.
